I had a wonderful time at South Lodge, where the beautiful spa facilities and stunning grounds truly made my stay memorable. The staff was attentive and went above and beyond to enhance our experience. However, we found the dining setup in the restaurant a bit cramped, which detracted from the overall meal experience. Overall, it's A fantastic choice for a luxurious getaway with excellent value.

The hotel offers beautiful spa facilities and luxurious accommodations, yet the dining experience fell short of expectations. While the staff was attentive and welcoming, there were some issues with noise in the rooms that impacted our overall comfort during the stay.

7.0/10

My stay at the hotel was mixed. While the grounds were absolutely stunning and the room was spacious, the dining experiences left much to be desired, particularly during breakfast. The overall service was disorganized, which negatively impacted my visit. If they improve on the dining and service, it could be a wonderful retreat.

Rooms
7.0
The room was spacious and had a lovely layout, but it felt a bit overpriced for what was offered at £430 a night, especially in such a remote area.
Service

The staff tried their best but seemed overwhelmed and disorganized. There was a noticeable lack of supervision during meal times.

Dining

Dining was a letdown; dinner was overpriced for forgettable food, and breakfast service was chaotic with wrong orders and long waits.

The facilities were inviting, with a beautiful spa and lovely grounds, but there were some maintenance issues in the room.

7.0/10

My stay at South Lodge was a mix of high expectations and unfortunate letdowns. While the hotel boasts beautiful spa facilities and excellent dining experiences, my time was marred by issues with room quality and noise disturbances. It's truly a shame because the ambiance of the hotel and the overall service had so much potential to be wonderful.

Rooms
5.0
I was unfortunately moved between three different rooms, all of which were clean, but they had issues; the first room was noisy with lift sounds, the second had a bothersome buzzing noise, and the last was simply a stopgap for the night. Given the luxury pricing, I expected each room to facilitate a restful experience.
Service
7.0
The staff were generally accommodating, addressing my concerns about room noise promptly; however, the responses felt reactive instead of proactive. I appreciated the efforts made to resolve the billing mix-up, but I wished for a more tailored approach to my discomfort during the stay.
Location
6.0
Set in a picturesque area, the hotel's grounds are quite beautiful. However, it was disappointing to hear noise from the nearby highway cutting through the tranquil experience I was hoping for.
Dining
9.0
The dining experience in the Camelia Restaurant was delightful, with a wonderful three-course meal that I thoroughly enjoyed. Breakfast options were extensive, providing plenty of choices to start the day right.
Facilities
8.0
The spa facilities are gorgeous and really contribute to the luxurious feel the hotel aims for. However, several guests noted that improvements in room handling would elevate the experience greatly.
